I don't know. It shouldn't have taken me this long to read it, but it did. It was okay, fans are going to loooooooooove it, but everyone else, eh. The layout was okay and I liked the way it was written I love when writers write in a conversation setting and I actually liked it more about his past then present, mainly because I don't do Real Housewives of Anywhere.
Too many people listed and I didn't bother keeping anyone straight because I didn't really care. Which didn't bode well for the book. Oh well. No regrets, but only for the huge Bravo fans. May 11, Courtney rated it really liked it Shelves: memoirs , humor.
I love Andy Cohen. He seems to be as fascinated by kooky behavior as I am. I don't think I have missed a single episode of his fabulous let's-put-some-liquor-in-Jackee-and-see-what-happens kind of talk show. Saturday Night Live got it right, he is "adorable. Don't tell the editors, I would have ended up buying this anyway.
This book is your perfect beach read for I love Andy Cohen. This book is your perfect beach read for the summer. Take it with you on vacation, pick it up now and then, then put it down, and you will have no problem picking right back up. I don't know how good the latter part of the book will be if you are not a Bravo viewer like myself. Which come to think of it, the Housewives are like a perfect summer read too.
Junk food, not for the soul, but at least for the bored. I am currently lapping up bowlfulls of the New Jersey crew. I kept thinking this is probabaly even more fun on audio. May 16, Nikki rated it really liked it. Enlightening and humorous all in one, Cohen knows how to pack a punch. This is his story of how he went through life which started out a closeted gay Jewish boy. I have watched Andy on Bravo many times which he is an executive of that network and have felt intrigued with him each time I watched him.
I am still fascinated by the man and after reading this memoir of his, I continue to be fascinated by him. Nothing is out of bounds in this book from him telling his nearest and dearest he was gay, t Enlightening and humorous all in one, Cohen knows how to pack a punch. Nothing is out of bounds in this book from him telling his nearest and dearest he was gay, travels through Europe during college and how he came to where he is in the entertainment world it is all here.
I have watched the Housewives he mentions throughout the book only a few times, but after reading this I am a bit more curious about them.
Most Talkative: Stories from the Front Lines of Pop Culture (Paperback) Book
His light hearted way of writing about the various things that have happened in his life make me want to go back and review some of these and look at them from his perspective which he shares in this memoir. Witty and fun, it is worth the read and I am so glad I have fallen in love with Bravo and Andy.
Andy was born 1 year earlier than I was so relating to his obsessions was like a walk down memory lane. Besides his childhood in St. Louis, Andy covers off on coming out in college to his friends and family, working for CBS news in the 90s, and working at Trio and Bravo including a lengthy chapter on the housewives franchise, including some transcript fans of bravo's 'watch what happens live' host andy cohen will absolutely love this breezy fun read delving into the rise of a network executive.
Louis, Andy covers off on coming out in college to his friends and family, working for CBS news in the 90s, and working at Trio and Bravo including a lengthy chapter on the housewives franchise, including some transcripts of the most outrageous reunion bits, which tbh i found to be a tad filler-ish.
May 12, Bobbi rated it really liked it. If you're an Andy fan, you'll love this book. In a breezy, confessional way, he takes us through his life and his experiences in both pop culture and news. The way most of us know him now, with the Bravo show and reunions, doesn't give us a clue of the years he put in as the producer of serious news stories. I found his take on Dan Rather and other personalities fascinating.
I fell in love with his parents and the relationship they have with their son. I loved reading about the Bravo shows and p If you're an Andy fan, you'll love this book. I loved reading about the Bravo shows and personalities I enjoy so much. And, I laughed! It isn't often that I laugh out loud while reading a book.
But, Andy is so open and honest in this book about all his foibles and goof-ups, you can't help it. All in all, a truly enjoyable book by and about a TV personality I enjoy. May 31, Jenny rated it it was amazing. Couldn't get enough. Could not contain my laughter on the 11 bus, on the brown line, in bed while Chris was trying to sleep. Reading this basically felt like one of my best friends was telling me hilarious stories for a few days in a row, with touching anecdotes popping up here and there.
Bravo, Andy Cohen see what I did there? I wonder how many other dweebs included 'bravo' in their review. I can't help it. Nov 19, Jenn O'Brien rated it really liked it. I love Andy! Listening to him and his impressions made me laugh out loud. Reading this made me realize that I want to meet Andy's Mom Evelyn.
She sounds hysterical!!! I was really hoping for more insider Housewives information but overall I liked listening to his story. Mar 21, Kelli rated it liked it. Funny if you like Andy Cohen, Bravo, and just generally ridiculous stories. There was one story within the book where I could not contain my laughter. He is a nut and I really like him. May 08, Lisa rated it really liked it. I love Andy.
Awesome interview on The Howard Stern Show this morning had me buying this book for my Kindle as soon as I could get online. Aug 06, Diane rated it really liked it. I wondered who this Cohen guy was and from where he came. Oh and they frequently drink on that show, so it's hilarious.
I still like Flipping Out. He also ends his book with another Lucci encounter, and it is the perfect way to bookend his pop culture life story. The show was the lowest rated of the morning shows, but I found this section of the book the most interesting. His story about accompanying Dan Rather on a story about western wildfires was fascinating, although I recently read Rather's latest memoir and Cohen is sadly not in it. There are lots of pop culture references here, including Cohen's obsession with Oprah Winfrey and the few times he got her to agree to interviews did not go well.
He has his own Ah-ha moment when he learns that trying to trick Oprah is a big mistake. Fans of the Housewives shows will be enthralled by his chapter on hosting the reunion shows. He gives the reader the inside scoop, and even though I swore off the Housewives, I admit to enjoying this chapter immensely. Cohen's love for Battle of the Network Stars took me back to my childhood and love of the show. He even tried to emulate it with Bravo's version, Battle of the Reality Stars, which didn't take off and that is probably a good thing.
There are some serious moments here too, and Cohen struggling with telling his friends and family that he is gay really tugs at the heartstrings. I think anyone who is going through the same thing or has gone through it will get something from this book. The only chapter that fell flat for me was the one about pulling pranks on his mother with his best friend; that was the only miss in this delightful book.
The book is very funny, reading it is like sitting down and listening to Cohen tell you his life story, warts and all. You can hear his distinctive voice and see his head tilting in your mind as you read of his delightful walk through pop culture. I think the audio version of this book would be amazing. Dec 04, Meredith First rated it it was amazing. Forget logistics or the scientific details that I'm a few years older, Andy Cohen and I are twins separated at birth. Sure, he was placed in a nice Jewish family in Missouri and I was placed in a nice, religiously confused family in California, but still Our mothers think they birthed us, but still With the disclaimer of my newfound evidence lack of?
I liked it so much I bought it in hardback and paperback truth is my sister - Andy's sister too now! When you buy the paperback, you get a bonus chapter not included in the hardback. Anyone who watches Andy on Bravo will love this fast read.
Never miss a story
You don't need to be a Housewife fan to enjoy this book though. You don't even need to be a television fan to enjoy this book. You just need a pulse and a sense of humor and you will be a fan of Andy Cohen. As the author of a true-life novel about the coming out story of my best friend, I was particularly interested in reading Andy Cohen's story of his own coming out.
He broke my heart when he wrote, "I honestly believed that if I chose to be open about my sexuality, I would be shunned by everyone I loved. A beautiful patchwork of people with fragile hearts, in fear of losing their beloved friends and family if they live in their truth. I read this book on a flight from Minneapolis to Sacramento. That's how fast it is and how it captures you.
My teenagers made fun of me because my laughter was loud and when I started to cry, they rolled their eyes and made me think of Andy and his beautiful relationship with his parents. I'll look at my kids snotty teenage attitudes differently now.

If we end up with half the relationship that Andy has with his parents, I will consider myself a true success in parenting. Andy ends the new chapter in the paperback with perfection, saying, "I am exactly where I've always wanted to be. And legions of your fans are here supporting you and loving you, just the way you are. May 27, Candie rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites.
I should preface this review by saying that it might be somewhat biased because I went into this book already adoring Andy Cohen. So about 6 weeks ago, I had just finished the 50 Shades trilogy and I was more than ready to get out of that world. In fact, my main motivation for finishing the last novel was that Andy's book was going to released that next morning and I wanted to start reading it immediately.
The reason I am bringing this all up is that the same enthusiasm many seemed to have for 5 I should preface this review by saying that it might be somewhat biased because I went into this book already adoring Andy Cohen. The reason I am bringing this all up is that the same enthusiasm many seemed to have for 50 shades, I had for the story of Andy Cohen's life and how he became everything he is today. I didn't need to find a cheap 50 shades substitute afterward, I just needed a really good and well-written book.
There was something about Andy's story that made it so completely easy to relate to -- maybe it was because he became such a NYC boy or that he grew up in love with soaps, or that he obsessively watched the Battle of the Network Stars.

But, I like to think that it was most likely because he found something that he was in love with at such an early age and eventually found a way for it to love him back. Through stories filled with humor, honest emotion and just the right amount of self-deprecation, Andy found a way to take you through his journey to becoming Bravo's executive vice president of original programming and development while meeting some colorful characters along the way hello, Mr. Dan Rather and Ms. Tammy Faye Messner and make it one of inspiration.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves pop culture, wants a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of television or just a feel-good story about someone who has earned their way to the top. May 16, Squirrel Circus rated it really liked it. Having just finished my advance copy of Most Talkative www. I assumed that Cohen was "cast" off the street, so to speak, to be the snarky, sensitive, awkward, and instigating by turns host of said reunions as well as the VERY entertaining Watch What Happens Live. But, NO. He's actually the executive vice-president of development and talent at Bravo who played a big part in conceiving shows like Top Chef, Flipping Out, and The Real Housewives. To this point, one of the best things about his memoir is that he doesn't really get to the Housewives until more than half-way through the book.
And, when he does, he doesn't rely on exclusive "dirt" to keep interest up. A behind-the-scenes look at what goes into producing the franchise is just as interesting. With Most Talkative, Cohen starts at the beginning - his beginning - looking back at early, important relationships with friends and family with whom he is obviously still close. Most Talkative is an entertaining and well-written memoir that's more about friendship, family, and personal drive than "real" housewives and will interest any fan of Cohen, a Bravolebrity in his own right. Apr 19, Randi Reisfeld rated it really liked it.
But not always. Once, he booked and promoted a big time singer, only to have her pull out at the last moment. Same day, she performed on The Today Show. He names her: Mariah Carey.
